Buy Bamboo Plants, The Lucky Green Grass

Buy Bamboo PlantsYou must be getting used to the sight of Lucky Bamboo plants in offices, homes or desks these days. The Feng Shui plant is said to bring good luck and fortune. But what very few people know is that the plant is not a bamboo at all, but is in fact a variety of the Lily foliage and flowers family.

Lucky Bamboo Plants – Myth or Reality?

Lucky Bamboo plants are so named because of identical growing patterns of their stems to those of a Bamboo plant shoot. An important part of Feng Shui, these plants are said to create harmony by representing the five basic universal elements of earth, fire, wood, water and metal. Such a thriving plant signifies wood and water at their elemental best, whereas tying a red ribbon around their stalks is believed to fire-up the flow of positive energy in the room. The belief varies depending upon the number of stalks a plant grows as follows:

• 3 stalks plant is said to bring happiness

• 3 stalks plant is for good health

• 6 six stalks plant is said to bring peace & harmony.

How Much Care Does a Lucky Bamboo Plant Need?

Like a bamboo, these plants also require very little care on your part – a few drops of water and small amount of sunlight is all they need to grow. If you notice the leaves turning yellow, the most likely reason is either excess use of fertilizers or too much sunlight. Keep them in a shadier location or a place with indirect sunlight, and cut down on the use of fertilizers if you are using them.

Each week, fresh bottled or distilled water should be used as too much chlorine can turn the leaves brown, or at worse kill the plant. You may decide to use a specialty fertilizer, although few drops of very week fertilizers are also enough in an indoor environment.

Some Useful Tips

A simple vase is enough to grow the plant. Just add few small pebbles or decorative stones on the bottom for support. Ideally, the water level should be at or below the rocks/stones. To repot the bamboo plant, just transfer to pot larger by about 2 inch or so. Alternatively, you may also plant it into loose sand with enough bottom drainage.

Such a healthy, thriving plant would fill your room with the positive effects as per the Feng Shui belief practice. And these basic guidelines are a good overview or summary of information on how you can do the same.
