Garden Structures Will Enhance Your Outdoor Space

Garden StructuresHome decorating has moved into the garden and with summer upon us, it’s a great time to consider building or buying that garden structure that will make your outdoor area both eye catching and inviting. Garden structures are becoming more and more popular with pergolas and gazebos changing the way we use our outdoor areas, extending our living spaced into the garden and creating elegant and exotic outdoor entertainment areas. For years the classic garden structures such as bridges and trellises, arbors, pergolas and gazebos have added that little extra something to the garden and now they are as fashionable as ever.

What garden structure looks good and where should you locate it?

Arbors

Arbors harp back to the days of garden festivals and celebrations. They were used to symbolise moving over the threshold to a new season or time in ones life, much as we carry a bride over the threshold after getting married. Wooden arbors are excellent for vines and climbing plants.

Trellises

If you happen to have a boring wall that is stark in it’s blandness, then you would do well to place a trellis in front of it. These structures can be made from wood or metal and are also very good for climbing plants and vines. You could consider planting passion fruit, sweet pea, honeysuckle or jasmine.

Bridges

If you are so fortunate as to have a wondering creek through your garden or have enough space to have a pond, then a bridge could be a wonderful addition. The most popular bridges are the asian style which curve or ‘float’ over a koi pond. Bridges are best suited for larger gardens, but even without a large pond, you can incorporate an attractive structure.

Greenhouses

Although for many a greenhouse is a purely functional structure, you can have a very attractive greenhouse that can become a feature of your garden rather than just a functional building. There are a variety of different designs that you can choose from including English conservatory designs which are both elegant and functional. With the additional aspect of being able to see through them to the other side of the garden, they are less inclined to make a small garden look smaller.

Pergolas

If you are blessed to live in an area that experiences warm nights, then a pergola is an ideal structure for entertaining at night. During the day it is a fantastic reprieve from the sun as you can shade your pergola, yet in some designs you can retract the covering should you wish to. They are ideal structures for hanging swing seats from and are excellent for entertainment areas.

Gazebos

Whether you decide on an open or closed gazebo, you will find that they are lovely garden structures that add an element of elegance to your garden, ideal for weddings and parties, they are also a wonderful shade structure for near a pool. Many gazebos are being used as outdoor offices and spas as well as massage and yoga buildings. They are extremely versatile and cost effective if you are looking for that extra space.

There are a large variety of different garden structures available and we have sourced the very best for you. Whether you wish to build your own or buy a pre-made structure, we have a wide selection of plans and structures for you to look at.
