Outdoor Bathroom Restore Your Body and Mind

Outdoor Bathroom DesignWhat could be more luxurious than an outdoor bathroom? If you live in a place that can allow you the proper privacy and comfort of an outdoor bath, you deserve to consider installing one. There are many things to consider before you get started, so think about what you have available to you before investing in your own resort spa. If the stars align, you could be bringing some natural beauty in to the place where you make yourself beautiful!

1. Depending on the privacy your home’s location offers, the design of the outdoor bath will be affected. Think about where your home is located, how often people pass it and how much of your space your neighbors can see. The more isolated your home is, the more open your outdoor bathroom can be. If you live in a city, it’s probably time to consider another design.

2. Climate is also important. If harsh winters punctuate the years in your home, you’ll need to have your bathroom enshrouded in glass. You won’t have to give up on the view that an outdoor bathroom can have, it just will have to be separated by a pane of glass!

3. When designing a bathroom that will be exposed to the elements, you’ll need to choose materials that can stand up to the weather conditions. Hopefully you will be building your bathroom in a place where the weather is mild, but this needs to be a consideration for any climate. Galvanized metal is a good choice for your fixtures, as it has a zinc coating that can create a protective seal. This seal will limit corrosion, making it a great choice for bathtubs. Porcelain and acrylic are also good choices for outdoor bathtubs, as are natural rock and stones. If you choose wood, keep in mind that it will age dramatically, changing color, fading and peeling. Only include wood if this is what you are looking for in bathroom design. Linen is a great, natural choice as it sturdy and can stand up to weathering and washing. It is much stronger than cotton, but it will allow sunlight to shine through.

4. Consider including natural color schemes into your outdoor bathroom. Try faded browns and tans, pinks, blue and white for hot climates. If you have no walls to paint in your outdoor room, use accessories to bring color in. Also be sure to bring colors in that will mirror the natural surroundings and importantly, fade charmingly.

5. Privacy can come from unorthodox places. Bring plants and landscaping into your outdoor bathroom to enhance the space’s beauty and provide additional cover. A trellis can surround your outdoor tub, entwined with vines that will make a green wall for you to hide behind. While you will obviously need some lighting, be sure that it is relatively low for nighttime usage, you don’t want to draw much attention to yourself when you are in there!

No matter the choices you make for your new outdoor bathroom, it will certainly add luxury and relaxation to your home’s offerings. Consider all your options before moving forward, and you will have a space that you will enjoy for years to come.
